We don’t know what you think, but we love Blackjack. It’s a game that almost anyone can enjoy and everyone has a chance to win – it’s always exciting to play! Here are some tips to help you have more fun than ever playing the game in your forties and increase your chances of winning.
1. Soft 17 and Hard 17
Soft 17 is the hand that consists of an AS and a seven, because in this hand you can decide whether you want your AS to be worth 1 or 10 points. In this case we recommend that you ALWAYS ask for one more card, because if you get a card with a value higher than four, you still won’t go over 21 and you will still have a good hand. But if you have a Hard 17, which is a hand without an AS whose cards add up to 17, the recommendation is to stand so that the odds don’t work against you.
2. When to split?
Some people recommend splitting your hand when you have two 10-point cards, but we believe that a good 20-point hand is better than two lower-scoring hands. Things change when you have two eights, as a 16-point hand is considered one of the worst hands in blackjack. If you find yourself in this situation, take your two eights and split them for a chance to make two much better hands.
3. If card counting isn’t your thing, don’t do it.
If you visit a place where card counting is allowed and you want to try it, that’s fine, just make sure you really know how to do it. There are guides and whole books you can learn from, but since it takes a lot of mental skill, not everyone can do it. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t waste your time and concentrate on playing the way you know how. Also, blackjack tables often use the shoe, that little box in which all the decks of cards are placed to prevent gamblers from counting them. Don’t even bother.
4. Forget about insurance
Insurance is the name given to the bet you make “in favour” of the dealer. It is done when the dealer has an AS as a visible card and you bet that he will hit a blackjack, meaning that his next card has to be one with a value of 10 points. The odds of this happening are pretty low, so we recommend that you try harder to make a better hand than he did, but if you’re feeling very lucky, then go for it!
5. Practice does not make perfect
Obviously it’s super important that you know how to play blackjack before you venture into making significant bets, but that’s not to say that the more you play, the more “expert” you become and the more likely you are to win. Admittedly, playing it is super simple and once you get the hang of it and have a bit of logic when it comes to the odds, anyone can hit the jackpot, regardless of whether you started betting yesterday or years ago.
If you play a lot of blackjack, play it because you really like it and not because you think you can win easy money. Our advice: have fun with the games you like the most from our Casino to have a more enjoyable forty days.
